Every now and then, people ask us how we came up with our company name. And honestly, it wasn’t a quick or strategic decision.
In the beginning, we brainstormed all kinds of names that sounded great to us. Every time we thought we had the perfect one, we checked if the “.com” domain was available, and every time, it was already taken. You can imagine how many names we went through.
So we decided to take a different approach. Instead of trying to find meaning first, we started playing with sound. Just saying combinations of letters out loud until something felt right. That’s when we stumbled upon ZangaBee.
It had rhythm. It had energy. And it stuck. When we said it out loud, we realized there’s really only one way to pronounce it: with enthusiasm! ZangaBee!!
At that point, the “Bee” part didn’t have any connection to the insect. It was simply part of the sound we liked. But things took an interesting turn when we launched a crowdsourced logo contest. Almost every design proposal we received included bees, hives, or honeycomb shapes. Apparently, the name instantly sparked that association, and we loved it.
So the bee stayed.
As the company grew, we started thinking more about our values and the kind of impact we want to make beyond our day-to-day work. When it came time to choose a cause to support, the answer felt obvious. The real bees, the ones that keep ecosystems thriving and our food chain intact, are facing serious challenges.
Their decline has become a global concern, and the more we learned about it, the more it resonated with us. Bees represent collaboration, hard work, and community, all things that reflect how we like to operate at ZangaBee.
That’s why we decided to support the Dutch Bijenstichting (Bee Foundation). Through their work, they raise awareness about the importance of bees, create safe environments for them to live, and educate people on how to protect these vital pollinators.
For us, it’s a full-circle moment. What started as a playful, phonetic idea became a name with meaning and a small way to give back to nature.
ZangaBee started as just a sound, but it’s grown into something that represents who we are: energetic, connected, and buzzing with ideas.
